Tammy what a wonderful story! I love that there are people out there willing to take on an animal that obviously will need a lot of attention and medical care. You went into this knowing this would cost you a lot of money, but you and your husband did it anyway because you couldn't stand his suffering ... how wonderfully sweet! Good luck with the challenge, I love all of your doodling, it's such a happy page!
HE IS SO SUPER CUTE!!!!!!! What a story! But he is so lucky that you found him (or is it that he found you??? I often wonder about that with horses). A little horse with great character! Love the LO BTW!
Oh what a great story, too bad you couldn't get help for the other little horse, but sounds liek you saved many! Ihope you have that story journaled somewhere so you never forget. Bless you for saving them all!!
Ok, I'm on the floor in a puddle and no kleenex....when you wrote that he comes over and puts his head on your shoulder to cuddle.....ok that did it - waterworks...sniff, sniff.....this is the saddest and sweetest and then the most wonderful story. Bless your heart (hubby's too) for being angels for these sweeties! What a great page, Tammy - love it, love it! The lettering (with doodles) over the hay is awesome - love the little circle pic with the flowers bordering it - flourish is so pretty too. Sigh...soooooo glad you shared this page and their story! Thank God for wonderful, loving, caring people like you!!!! M
This is Gringo. My little miniature horse (smaller than a pony) and yes, he is a STALLION!!! LOL He might be tiny but he knows he's all male! Found Gringo while driving in the country, this lady had a few minis on her land, which are very rare, and decided to stop and ask if we could pet them. To our surprise, her animals were in very bad shape. Gringo was 3 months, skinny and looked very sick. While visiting, noticed another baby that was laying on the ground, weak and wouldn't get up at all. Very saddened and upset by the whole thing, we went back a week later only to find out that the other baby had died. Her story was that he had been attacked by a wolf!! YA right!! We offered to adopt Gringo and she accepted!!!!
Hubby built a barn in 7 days!!! A week later it happened, showed up with a full horse trailer (my in-laws have race horses), loading up that huge trailer with this tiny little horse. We wanted Gringo to have companionship so on the spot, decided to adopt a friend for him, another minitaure (female) by the name of *Pantouffle*. She needed great help with her hooves as one of her legs was becoming crooked by lack of care. Needless to say that once my babies were safe at home, we called the Human Society and glad to say that all animals were placed into good care :-)
Gringo was very sick for a few months, we were afraid of losing him but the vet worked magic! With penecelin, good hay, grain and lots of love, my stallion is now almost 3 and strong as a horse LOL
Nursing him back to health and having him at such a young age has made him accept us as his *parents*. When I kneel down in front of him, he will bring his head to my shoulder and cuddle. He is graceful like a *real* horse but tender as a teddy bear!
Journaling reads: "Standing at 28 inches, you are majestic! My teddy bear"
TFL!
* My female is doing really well also. Her leg, although not perfect, is acceptable but we continue treatments with the vet and the blacksmith. She has grown very attached to Gringo. They are friends for now but who knows, the might become more??? *laugh*
