A poem my mum's friend wrote for her funeral service. From a tribute album for my mum.

Poem:
Lois Lois Lewis Lee
What a friend you've been to me
Always a smile,
Never a frown
You never let life get you down.
Lois Lois Lewis Lee
You mean the world
And more to me.

When I'd visit
We'd have a cup of tea
And you'd get in first and ask about me.
Occasionally if things were bad, you might share
But you were never sad
And you would say,
Oh well, Yeah! It's meant to be
And then there'd be a story about little Aimee.

You struggled in the body
But your spirit was free
And your faith shone through
For all to see.
Your favourite topic was
The rapture. This is true.
But we laughed about Coro Street
And daft things too.

One day we shared our stories
And empathized and cried
But when I saw your eyes open wide
I knew you'd seen the funny side.
Just like magic,
Right on cue,
You looked at me and I looked at you
And we laughed and laughed till you went blue.

In that hospital bed you lay
Listening to all we had to say
We wondered would you again go the extra mile
Then you'd open your eyes
And give us a smile.

Your Angel came for you
And we sent him away.
Not now chuck,
Some other day.
But he came back anyway.

I'm going to miss my little friend
But the story has a happy end.
Some day we'll meet beyond the blue
And when we do I'll say to you
Lois Lois Lewis Lee,
What a Blessing you were to me.
