I have the same problem with my cannon powershot too. The store where I bought it is starting classes in January, so I signed up. Cant hurt, right.

perhaps the still portions are confusing the camera's sensors and it doesn't know what to focus on? I think the shot looks good like this, but I understand what you are hoping for. hopefully you will get more opportunities to keep trying for the perfect shot.

Great shot. I had the same trouble with DD's cheerleading pictures, A few times I got lucky and had really, really good lighting and they were clear, but usually the gym was just too dark for it to take quickly and something was always blurred. I think it's really cool like this, though.

Can't answer your blur questions, but IMHO it really adds to the sense of action and give the photo more impact. Really great shot - TFS :)

Action is a tricky thing to capture! For indoors, you did really good with this one!

I always use a manual setting when taking these type of shots! Never have any luck with the preset action setting! I have a Canon also! =}

I agree with Krista, I have tried the sports action on my camera and don't find it as good as just snapping a regular photo in regular settings.

I always get a blur too when using action shot - I'd say try without and see what happens.

I don't like the the action setting! It will give you the blur, if that's what you desire, but if you want stopped action, it will not do it for you. Just my humble experience. Try the fastest shutter speed your camera will give you. Try "normal" or "auto" depending on your camera.
