This is fabulous...you have a knack for crafting, even when it is fairly new to you! I LOVE THIS! I'm sure she'll be pleased, surprised & delighted.GREAT job on the sewing, the owl applique, and use of Marvy markers. :-)
I bet I surprise my oldest daughter with this one on Christmas. It seems everything we got her this year, she already knew about. I couldn't have that and had been wanting to try this project for a while--she loves to knit and is crazy about owls, especially the one from Happily Ever After. Brandi also loves this fabric. Because I'm a newbie at the whole sewing process, it took me about six hours to complete this while she was at work on Sunday. The instructions for the case came from a book called "Warm Fuzzies" by Betz White. After cutting the owl pieces from cotton fabric, using heat-n-bond as a stabilizer, and sewing it on the front of the case, I realized I probably should have cut the shadow--what a thing to figure out AFTER doing all that. So, I used a black Puffy Velvet Marker (by Marvy Uchida) to outline the image and used my heat tool to puff it up. Then I decided to use a blue Puffy Velvet Marker to help embellish the eyes. I think it turned out pretty well considering my lack of experience with these types of things. It seems that I'm sewing more and more these days . . . TFL and Happy Holidays!
