Sweet photo -- reminds me of the little stone school house in southeast Colorado that Hubby's grandmother used to teach at, back in the 1920s or 30s, I believe it was. That one literally falling apart - not bright white and solid as this one appears to be. Love this shot - very sentimental feel to it - great take and TFS!
Great photo. My mom went to a one room school house. I used to love her stories about it. Each row was a grade...and one year she was the only one in 3rd grade so she was taught 4th as well! LOL!! She lived on a farm and in the winter time her older brothers would "hook up the team" of horses to the sleigh and pick up the neighbor children and take them to school. I miss her stories. :-)
Thanks for this photo!!
My MIL went to a tiny one roomer like that in Kief ND and she has a fab education, you have to hand it those teachers, sorta like being a home schooler for a really big family. And she came early to light the stove and stayed late to clean the building in most cases.
This is one of numerous one room country schools that once educated generations of farmand ranch kids in MT and ND. This one,Plainview is no longer used, a sign of the time, declining, rural population is the main reason these little schools are rarely attended. This school is near the former town of Trotters, ND, north of our ranch
