Great meaningful l/o. My kids voted in school too and I thought it was amazing how they innocent minds of my daughter's kindergarten class all voted for Obama. So YES WE CAN!!!!
This is a LO with all that I felt about the 2008 election When I first started to really pay close attention to the candidates running for president in 2008 was the day my 5 year old daughter saw Barrack Obama on television and asked, “WHO IS HE?” She usually says it that way because she thinks the person is fine, LOL. Though I do not know for sure what was going through her mind at the time. I said to her, “That is Barrack Obama and he wants to be the next president of the United States.
I do not know if I ever really doubted that an African American could be president or if it just was that no one was ever smart or strong enough to try.
The country we live in has been going through some hard times since September 11th 2001. The economy has taken a nose dive and people are losing their homes their jobs, their pride in America and we are all in search of a resolution, a dream the slightest hope an answered prayer. A lot of us have seen that in the promises of Barrack Obama. We have faith that he could make a difference in our nation. Maybe he can not fix all that’s wrong (only God could do that), he is still a man but some change is better than nothing.
On November 5th, 2008 I had gone to the poll to vote. I brought my son Joseph with me. He was there as his mother helped make a part of history even though he was only 1 years old and really didn’t have a clue. When I picked up Jonée from school I told her guess what, “Joseph and I just voted for Barrack Obama!” She replied gleefully “Mommy guess what I VOTED today too. At school they had an election with the running candidates pictures and each student casted a ballot. I thought that was awesome of the school to do. That night the news reported on the outcome at the polls. People showing up in greater numbers than ever before to cast their votes. And when the states started to turn blue as the votes came in I didn’t want to get my hopes too high. I woke up just minutes before the final counts amazed, excited, anxious. I cried did you? I just said a prayer for his journey. I felt worried like I sometimes feel for my own brother. Barrack Obamas Slogan was :Yes We Can! And he did it. He made history.
