week 2: breakfast routine

hidden journaling:

When you are the kind of person who thinks the words “good” and “morning” just don't belong together then an actual breakfast routine might be a little hard to come by. We really only have two mornings each week where the time for breakfast is available. Those two days allow us a simple yet very relaxing and enjoyable pleasure called coffee. Every Sunday and Tuesday we crawl out of bed as late as possible and allow our Mr. Coffee machine to wake us up with the aroma and flavor of freshly brewed coffee. We fill our matching mugs, sit at the island in our kitchen, and absorb the peace and joy of togetherness. One morning though our simple routine was thrown off course. When the beeping of Mr. Coffee alerted us that breakfast was ready my husband went to the cabinet, pulled out a mug then stopped….”Where's the other mug?” he asked. As I sometimes scrapbook while I have my coffee I checked both the computer room & my scrapbooking room while he searched the kitchen. Nothing. We then searched the bedroom and yes, even the bathrooms to no avail. Puzzled by the missing mug we shared several cups from our one remaining mug and tried thinking of what could've happened to it's partner. Several days passed and the missing mug was still missing. We had even resigned ourselves to the purchase of a new set of mugs. One evening my husband came home from work and when the topic of dinner came up we decided to warm up some leftovers from the night before. When I opened the microwave door PRESTO…..there sat our missing mug! It was even still half full of coffee! My husband saw this and it jogged his memory as to why the mug was there. The past Sunday we had run to do some errands and he had placed the mug in the microwave with the intent of warming it up when we got home. Our errands ended up taking most of the afternoon so by the time we got home coffee was the last thing on his mind. Our unsolved mystery had been sitting under our very noses for 3 days! Good thing we aren't professional private investigators!
