I love the idea of scrapping this! Astronomers have recently discovered two more near each other within our solar system. You definitely captured that school project feel and I love the glittered blue felt. You were an adorable kindergartener, btw.
I totally love this! I remember learning the order through a little thing my 3rd grade teacher taught me. Each first letter meant the name of the planet ....Mary's Velvet Eyes Make John Stay Up Nights Proposing. This brings back so many memories! I love astronomy and felt a loss at the demotion of Pluto, poor thing. Thanks for doing this one, what a neat idea! Great LO!
What a very clever idea! And your attempt at making it look like a school project? Mission accomplished! So many wonderful details and accents and work went into this... your effort really shows! And I love the begin/end dates for Pluto-too funny!
I think your LO is brilliant! Really makes me want to run and do a school project too... don't you just miss the simpler days? I never thought to do a LO from back in grade school... I might have to try that out. ;)
You know, I was rather indignant when they dissed Pluto too. I was just watching a show about this the other night that said they were looking for a "new" planet, thought there may be another one out there... Excuse me, we HAD Pluto but noooo... it wasn't "good enough".... LOL I LOVE this layout -- fantastic idea!
this is so cool. I love the affect of it and the 1 small pic. It's funny bc that pic is still a focal pt out of all of that because of it's size. What a neat, great idea. Nice job!
What an ingenous way to scrap a moment in time! I grew up also learning the nine planets by heart and was also sad when Pluto was demoted to dwarf planet. Thanks for sharing this!
I'm with Ann ... I thought it still was our ninth planet too! I went and looked it up on the net, and you are so right, shocker! I love the LO, you totally succeeded in achieving that school project feel. I also love that you added 1930-2006, that's such a clever touch! I never would have thought to scrap about this, I love that you scrap about topics like this!
I thought it still was a planet! Must have missed that one. But this is such an ingenious layout. I love the rocket and stars. And that clock with "A Moment in Time" around your photo is so clever. A great idea. Love it!
Bubba knows all about this...LOL he loves the planets and was very upset too. You did a great job!!! It is sooo flippin cute. My mom and the kids loved it!!!
awesome LO - what a great thing to make note of in your scrapbook! I was very bummed about Pluto myself! I love the term "Plutoed" I never heard it before - it's so funny!!!
A moment of silence for dear Pluto....we knew him well! He may be gone, but not forgotten! You did a fabulous job with this my dear. Your rocket ship and the flames are stellar! Fabulous papers - the glitter worked so well and your planets are great. This whole lo makes me oddly hungry - for a Mars bar...or perhaps a Milkyway...hmmmmmmm. Hugs, M
Hi, Shawn! This LO is SO UNIQUE!!! Love it! The photo of you is ADORABLE, and the felt is so very retro....love the little rocketship and stars that you sewed....FAVE....Patty
Sorry for the glare! The lower half is washed out ~color is more saturated IRL.
This LO is an idea I came up with because I was rather shocked poor Pluto was demoted! Historical, but...I didn't like the change! LOL This led to the term "Plutoed", which means to be devalued or demoted. Journaling describes when Pluto became a 'planet', learning about our Solar System all through school, and when Pluto was demoted to a Dwarf planet, and no longer #9!!!
I included a photo of me in Kindergarten. I hand sewed the golden rocket ship and red flames, as well as the silver stars. I used blue felt and glittered it for the sky. Wanted the page to have a school project feel.
