SHCG: I love the journaling strips and the zigzag border. I agree with moving the Tween quote over off the border, but otherwise I wouldn't change a thing!
SHCG: What a great way to document Ashlynn's stage in life! Love the journaling, cool that you did different fonts and colors, great picture also. My only suggestion would be to move the Tween journal box/picture over so that it doesn't cut off the red zig/zag border.
SHCG - This is TERRIFIC, Kitty. I love all the different fonts, they help convey all the contradictions that being a tween entails. Super-duper incredible journaling. Love the pp & edgy color scheme, that pinked cs is marvelous. I do like Brian's suggestion of adding a little more light blue, to echo the journaling strips. Perhaps in the form of doodling around the title/pic? Great that you captured this in LO form... I can only imagine what it's like for a mom to see your little girl growing up to be a teenager, still loving some little girl stuff but very much changing before your eyes. Totally awesome scrapping, TFS!
SHCG: LOL!!! I love this LO!!! I'm so there with you!!! This is such a great idea to document such a trying time in Ashlynn's life!! I like the colors and the different styles of fonts in this one. I'm just not crazy about the font on the journaling strip on the upper right side.
Love the journaling on this ~ a fun one to look back on with her later in life too. I like how you've used different colors to contrast the "teen" entries from the "child" entries. Great idea!
I totally have that Dollar Tree paper from the last time I visited home. I like this LO a lot. It really captures your perspective of this stage of your daughter's life. The photo is perfect; it reflects this sentiment well. I think I'd add another soft blue element to balance everything out... maybe just a second arrow of a slightly different size parallel to the other one. Although, I don't really think it needs any changes. Awesome.
shcg: The journaling makes this LO. Mind you, at 20-something, the snuggling when tired or sick, I'll still do with my mom if I'm visiting her or vice versa. The only thing I'm not quite sure of is the blue color of the journaling. It seems very muted by comparison of the rest of this loud LO. I really like the distressing(?)/coloring of the background black for the bit of added interest it provides along with the dots in the points of the red cardstock.
This is a LO of my dd Ashlynn documenting the "joy" of being between a child and a teen (she is 12). the journaling says
Tween: Not yet a woman, not quite a child.
You refuse to watch Disney kid movies. You like Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse.
You want to wear make-up You need help putting it on sometimes.
You like your own space. You still like to snuggle when you’re tired or sick.
You’re developing your own fashion style. You pick outfits sometimes that don’t match
Boys keep asking you out You think boys are gross, and would rather be friends and just hang out.
You know lots of cuss words, and what they mean from friends at school. You know if you say any in front of Mom or Dad your butt would be grounded for life
You can spend all day with a book and your music You still enjoy family games like Mouse Trap
