At my Dad's funeral three years ago, my mother in law insisted that I take a flower from the casket blanket to keep. I'm so glad that I did. I had it pressed and its in a frame along with pictures of him. When my mother in law passed away this past May, I could remember how insistent she was about taking a flower from the casket blanket of my Dad's. I remember seeing a perfect yellow rose, her favorite color, right in the front of the floral bouquet made by the florist from her children and their spouses. I slowly walked up to it after the graveside service and plucked it off, looking over my shoulder to make sure I hadn't offended anyone. I watched in amazement as many others did the same thing. We ended up with several flowers, blues and yellows. My sister in law decided to have the flowers dried and put in glass cases, much like the kind on Anniversary clocks. She had three made, one for us, one for her, and one for Mom's brother. It will be a treasured keepsake forever....tfl!
