It was clear from the first day my daughter saw a piano,
music was in her heritage. The book that will follow
chronicles the music history that was soon to emerge.
This first page of what will become a multi-book reference includes quotes about her musical heritage,
the words (in Cyrillic) and notation of a favorite childhood song, and a scanned image of a bayan player
-- similar to what her birth family may have looked like.
The text in English states:
"Nina's Russian grandmother
then told me, in reply to my
questions about musical ability,
that she was not surprised at
Nina's talent. Nina's maternal
great-grandfather was a
professional musician: a pianist,
flautist and played at one time
in an orchestra. Additionally,
Nina's birthfather was at one
time an accomplised bayan
(like an accordion) player."
