This is for Debby's Dare You in 52 Challenge, week 4, and Pick a Quote Challenge. Debby's challenge this week was to pick seven decisions you made that changed the course of your live. The tabs beneath the pictures pull out to include my decisions and journalling, which reads,

" 1."i want" - to major in music. My college band director/clarinet instructor taught me so much more than how to play music - he taught me that I was worthy - he believed in me. And the music I learned to love during that time has given me much comfort ever since.

2. "that too" - to a second major in art. It was because of this combination of majors that I received my present job.

3. "hello?" to my high school principal, as I called him to ask for a job reference for a position in an area grade school - and he ended up offering me a job at my alma mater. I have a phobia about talking on the phone, and another about asking for favors, so this was a difficult call to make.

4. "yes" to marriage - to a man who wore his emotions on his sleeve. The emotions were intoxicating to a person like me who was raised by very reserved parents.

5. "no more" - to the same man who's emotions were out of control. This was the most difficult decision I've ever made and it took me 22 years to make it. I held the belief that marriage was a life-long commitment and I wanted it so badly. It broke my heart - it was the death of a dream and I mourned it for a long time.

6. "ow!" - as I gave birth to my sons. (well, the first son anyway - I ended up having a cesarean, so the twins were much easier, until the drug started wearing off half way through!) NOTHING I have done in my life is more important to me than that decision to have children. They have given me such joy!

7. "it's time" - to retire. Well, this decision's not made yet, but I'm currently struggling with the timing of this major life change. Whenever I choose to take that step, I hope that I will be taking it in the right direction....anyone have a compass?"
