Snuggle-Down Town

How far away is Snuggle-Down Town?
How far away? How far?
It's the sweeping length of a drowsy sigh
From a baby's yawn to a fast clenched eye;
While the chirp and chatter of restless bird
'Neath the eaves in the gathering dusk is heard;
It's from the last sunbeam to the wink of a star.
And that's how far to Snuggle-Down Town.

How do you go to Snuggle-Down Town?
How do you go, you say?
Just follow the patter of tiny feet
Up a carpeted stair, and down Toyland's street,
Where the dollies nod, and the Teddies snore,
Then sail away to the Sandman's shore;
But take the path where the moonbeams stray,
For that's how you go to Snuggle-Down Town.

What do they do in Snuggle-Down Town?
What do they do? What not?
All the elves and the gnomes are there,
And they romp in the woods and dance in the air,
And skim o'er the lily-pool's silvery rinks,
And play hide and seek in the green periwinkles;
And they fashion a dream and weave a plot.
And that's what they do in Snuggle-Down Town.

How long may one stay in Snuggle-Down Town?
How long may one stay? How long?
From the moment the canopied night began
Till the dawn when the gipsy's caravan
Brings her cargo of dew-drops and powdery gold
And all of the joys that the day may hold;
Till the Pipes O' Pan and the Robin's song.
Herald away from Snuggle-Down Town.
