Who said disco was dead? In 1997, it was very much alive at the dance studio I go to! This was my first year as a Cathette I in jazz and it was also the first time I got to dance with the staff class in jazz. The staff class all had different costumes but my class, we got stuck with this blue...thing. The pants weren't so bad but the shirt and I did NOT get along. The feathers kept tickling me and, of course, they dyed my skin a very lovely shade of blue. For our part of the dance, we came out to "That's the way I like it" and danced to parts of "Boogie Fever," "Shake Your Grove Thing," and "Car Wash." We left the stage to "Stayin' Alive." It wasn't such a bad dance, kinda fun and kinda embarassing as everyone kept trying to get me to "loosen up" and have fun with it. I looked on the bright side, at least, I didn't have to wear an afro like some of the girls I danced with did.

The whole disco theme, yeah, that would come back to haunt me later.
