A lo celebrating my oldest ds's first year in t-ball. Not sure why the stickers scanned so brightly, but oh well! Journaling is really long, but reads...

Spring 2004—After determining that soccer wasn’t your best sport, we signed you up for t-ball with North Newark Little League. You had a great coach, Dr. David Koontz, and knew some boys on the “Royals” team: Spencer Koontz, Tucker Helms, and Hunter Johnson. Well, it didn’t take long for us to find out that t-ball really wasn’t your sport, either!

We had one practice and then games every Saturday at 9am. You were so funny to watch! When outfield, you were busy kicking dirt around and picking grass. The game was too slow for you, and we can’t blame you because it was really slow for us to watch. The coaches pitched 3 balls to each batter. If none of those were a hit, they’d bring out the tee. All the parents in the bleachers liked to watch you bat because you always had a big smile on your face. Then you’d run the bases, shuffling your feet to create a mini duststorm.

You improved considerably over the season, hitting several pitches without the tee. Your favorite part of the game was getting your snack and drink at the end of each game. Even though you didn’t fall in love with t-ball, you learned a few lessons (and even gave coach a few tips!), made new friends, and looked so cute in your uniform. It’s okay; you’re just four years old, and this is just for fun!
