This is my buddy, Major. He is a major sweetheart. I have the privilege of dog sitting for him several times a year and I always look forward to it.
Major greets all visitors by presenting them with his favorite rawhead chewbone. That demonstrates his generosity. Whenever I have anything to eat, he drools like a St. Bernard. That demonstrates his fine palate. He thinks he is a lap dog. That demonstrates his keen imagination! He walks beside me without a leash. That demonstrates his obedience and protectiveness. When given the command, "Okay!" he halts, looks up at me, then takes off like a shot. This demonstrates his love for exploration and a good squirrel chase.
Major is a senior citzen Boxer and has some health issues. Very soon, my friends will face the hardest of all decisions - to have him put down. We are all dreading that day. In the meantime, we cherish every day with this sweet boy.

***UPDATE*** Major is in heaven with my Lucky now and they're probaby sharing a big bone. My friends have recently brought a new puppy into their lives, Marty McFly, a terrier (terror) mix. Marty is adorable and a bundle of energy. They should have named him Tigger because he is very bouncy!! Major will never be forgotten. 3/09
