Oh my goodness, I can't even begin to imagine the devastation. Good for you for scrapping it. I like the beachy feel of this page, and that you hand-journaled. I'm a big fan of hand journaling! :)
TFS! As a LA residentI am always interested in pictures of our coastline. Before Rita is so serene and the after devastation is unreal! We are far north of you and spent Rita caring for our relative evacuees from Beaumont. BTW, how's the rebuilding going?
Hurricane Rita struck Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas on September 23rd, 2005. We live a 2 hour drive from this beach. Holly Beach was so quiet and quaint. Just a small town, maimly small campers and summer cottages. One convenience store where you could get everything you needed. The picture to the right shows what is left of this sleepy SOuth Louisiana town. We have driven all along those roads and walked along the beach. We will go back! We were also affected by Rita 2 hours north of Holly Beach. No power, no water the only thing that worked was the phones. But we will survive and rebuild what we lost during that 24 hour period
