Mildred Point was on my list for quite some time and since forecast was not to keen to hikers this weekend, with its lengthy forest part, it seemed like a good option.

Surprisingly the trailhead welcomed us with signs of blue sky and the sun peeked out to warm us up instantly. Things were looking good but in this case it was pretty much too good to be true. Few minutes later, the clouds retuned and with them came heavy snow fall.

Still the ascend through fresh powder was great. The level of new snow here was perfect. There was just enough new snow for us to be able to enjoy blazing through it but not quite enough to make trailbreaking too tough. I mean it was still decent workout, especially on the steeper parts but very doable one.

Once we got higher nature threw wind to the mix of elements. Little further up, it seemed it got beyond wind. We got blasted for most of the upper part of the trail but braved it and reached Mildred Point where we took very quick lunch, few sips of hot beverage, and them hurried back down.

The descend through fresh powder was so much fun. It was by far the best snow conditions we had this years and we enjoyed every bit of it; however this trip showed us how fast can snowshoe tracks vanish if conditions are bad. With all the new snow fall and high winds our tracks on the way down were decently buried and in some places completely gone.
