Partial lift. Fire Department Training

txt: One-hundred and Nine hours of fire training- just to start.
Donning/ Doffing gear, Studying SCBA inside and out, Ladders, Knots, Rescue Carries, Power Tools, Apparatus, Hose, Layouts, Salvage & Overhaul.
Hours & Hours of physical training on top of book work. The Fire/Rescue service takes an emotional strength as much as a physical strength. We all have to be able to take the lead as well as follow. To have the courage, not just to run into a burning building, but courage to trust your life in the hands of your crew.
Long days in gear, Long nights in the books & firehouse. It has all come down to this- 2 days of testing; 1 written test and 6 practical tests.
Training at the Academy was dirty, exhausting, draining. At times we all wondered why we were even there. Then we'd look up at out crew, cheering us on and somehow we just kept pushing.
At the end of the day we sit back and remember how much fun we truly had…All worth it!
