The block is two 2x2 cut and glued together. Or sometimes you can use a 4x4 post and cut it. Then the block is sanded just a bit. The edges are sanded again later after you add the paper. There is a hardware eye screwed in the top for the twill and fabric and ribbons. Upholstery tacks are on the bottom for the feet. I am so glad you like it. My husband actually said bring that here I want to look at it closer when I held it up and showed it to him. I think he was impressed.
This is beautiful!! I have never seen an altered block, what type of block did you use? Did you cut wood and sand, or is it a box? I just love it, perfect thing to work on with those pictures too. I am just so fond of the colors and all you used - I'm adding this to my favs because I know I will want to come back and see this again. Seriously lovely.
This photo block can be used as a paper weight or just as a decoration. I used photos of my husband, son, and wo of my brother's children. The feather pin I made at a feather craft workshop at the National Convention in Nashville. The metal tags are things my husband got at the convention for playing some of the games or buying tickets for the hunts.
