the brown letters were painted with tim holtz crackle paint in fired brick. when it dried, it started flaking off (the letters were shiny, i probably should have sanded them a bit first). i liked the effect but it seemed like it wasn't going to stop, so i used diamond glaze on top. i really really really like the effect!
