Journaling: "Ahoy, me hearties!" “Walk the plank!” “Shiver me timbers!” It’s not very often you’ll see a group of 100 school administrators dressed up as Pirates, Sailors and Vikings – but that’s what happened at the 2005 Wide Bay Administrators Conference. When we signed up to attend the conference, we were told our evening program consisted of a two and a half hour cruise of the Burnett River aboard the classic river ferry, the Bundy Belle, followed by dinner at Baltimore’s Restaurant at the Port Marina. Sounds relaxing, doesn’t it? Then they dropped the bombshell…we had to come in costume. Nautical costume. We had four weeks to plan our costume, and by the fourth week – we were getting desperate. Do we go as mermaids? Or sailors? Or maybe we all go in a boat made of cardboard? Luckily, we thought to ask Robyn, the organiser of school concerts, the queen of dress-up. It took her about 10 minutes to come up with an outfit for all six of us. When she was finished, we had a captain, a wench and four buccaneers… Bundaberg – 12 September 2005
