Thanks to iamsamscrapper for the journaling prompt that led to this layout! :) I had my husband take these pictures of my hands-- didn't he do a nice job?? :) I put a dab of paint on the back of each of the bubble letter stickers because you couldn't see the letters otherwise.

Journaling Reads:
These hands have done some amazing things.

These hands have washed countless dishes, cooked countless meals, made beds, folded laundry, ironed (although not too much!). They have made Whoppers, they have run cash registers, they have handed food out a drive-through window. These hands have provided for my needs, financial and physical.

These hands have written more words than you'll ever guess. They've written poetry, stories, and essays. They've typed lesson plans, school papers, and countless emails. They have blogged, they have surfed, and they have posted. These hands have helped me keep in touch with others-- and with myself.

These hands have created many things. They've sewn pillows, cross-stitched wall hangings, and mended buttons. They've made cookies, they've made cakes, and they've made lots of messes. They've brought me one of the greatest joys of my life –- scrapping. They've been cut with paper, had adhesive backing under their nails, and been covered in spray adhesive that took weeks to get off. These hands have enabled me to be creative in ways I never dreamed possible.

These hands have reached out and clasped the hands of the man I love. They have written him love letters, penned poetry about him. They have worn his rings. They have rubbed his back when he was sick, made meals for him, taken his picture. They have welcomed him home after an absence. These hands have connected me to my husband since we fell in love.

These hands have held my newborn babies with the tenderness that only a mother knows. They have cared for those babies-- bathed them, changed them, fed them, burped them, and held them close. These hands have been held out to them as they have taken their first precarious steps. They have soothed hurts, applied bandaids, taken temperatures. They have administered discipline and then tenderly wiped away the tears that followed. These hands have given me a precious connection to the little lives I am blessed to share my home with.

These hands used to be beautiful. They used to receive compliments all the time-- such long, slender fingers; such nicely-shaped nails. They used to be well-cared-for. These hands have been neglected the last few years. They have done too many dishes, changed too many diapers, tied too many shoes to still be beautiful. Their skin is dry, their nails are uneven and unkempt. Some of their knuckles are swollen because of arthritis. These hands have lost much of their beauty.

But these hands are amazing. Each day they bring me precious gifts and allow me to do so many necessary and important things. I am so thankful for them.

And in the end, these hands are beautiful, because every day they touch beautiful things.
