SHCG: OK I admit it I burst out laughing when I saw your husband. I hope he wasn't suppose to be a serious prisoner. I really like all of the cross hatching echoed in the photo, the embellishments, and the mosiac. The photo of the outdoor shot with the sun really makes you stop and think this might have been the view the prisoners saw day in and day out. And even though it's a dweary building the sun over the mountain and water crys out Life is Great.
SHCG: Great pp choices! And of course I love the twine. Fibers just add the right dimension for me. You did a great job of putting all of this together and your hidden extras was genius. I've been looking for ideas on getting more photos than a page will hold. I like that one a lot!
I Love This LO! your embelli is immaginative and fits so well. the cut up pic is great the moive theme is of course perfect. the cut up pic conveys the distorted feel of the place and is like prision bars. wonderful!
SHCG: So much I love--the red, the skull, the stamping (I thought it was just the bg pp), embossed title, the staples, the gorgeous sundown shot, and I have to steal that barbed wire fiber to finish my own Alcatraz los! I don't know if I could have brought myself to cut that photo, but you made a good choice here. Had a little trouble seeing how this was inspired by the sketch, but I'll take your word for it. Perfect choice of title with a nod to the movie. Have you seen it, btw?
SHCG: Sharon, this is so cool. Love your take on combining these two BWC! The skull behind the bars is so cool. Love the photo mosiac! The pic of your dh is so funny, love how you did the title ~ awesome job :)
This is my response to two Scrap Happenzz challenges – mars4554's challenge to have a cut photo, a layered embellie made from 4 pieces of scrap & reference a pre-1980 movie; as well as MaRLeNeF's challenge to create a card using a sketch (I did a LO instead).
LO is about part of a trip we did in '06 that included San Francisco &, obviously, an evening trip to Alcatraz. The date doesn't appear here because it will be on the LO before this one (re: earlier in the day). The bottom right pic on the right page flips up to reveal a couple of photos from later that evening that don't fit w/ the overall feel of the LO.
The mosaic is a pic of the Alcatraz cell block; I've been meaning to try this technique for a while but hadn't yet, it was challenging to do (at times a little frustrating), but overall I'm pleased. My layered-scrap-paper embellie is the mini-set of bars & skull! This references the 1979 movie “Escape From Alcatraz.” I was psyched that the card challenge provided a sketch that sparked my direction on this LO. The background is stamped. The “barbed wire” is made from black twine; there's more of a bottom margin than seen here. I clear embossed the title to give it more oomph. Journaling/title block are stapled. The Rock Star Stack was a Secret Santa giftie from whenscraphappenzz – thanks Tiff!
It was soo fun trying to fulfill these 2 challenges here… I'm grateful that it had me trying new things. So THANKS, Marsha & Marlene!
