I decided to do a travel log page for each day of the trip. That way I wouldn't have to do a lot of journaling on each page. Text Reads:
Travel Log
9-16-08
I should start by saying that our trip really started on 9-15-08. Our flight on the 16th was scheduled to leave at 6:40 A.M. so we decided to stay at the Hyatt at the Pittsburgh Airport. When I say at the airport, it is literally right at the airport. Adam and I left our house about 6:00 Monday evening. We picked up Stephen at Penn Center West, then drove to Robinson Town Centre and ate dinner and did some last minute shopping. When we got to the Hyatt, Adam was excited to watch the Pirates on Fox Sports, since we don't get it at home – until he saw that they were losing badly to the Los Angeles Dodgers. We went to bed early; we had to get up early the next day!
We were all up and dressed by 4:30 Tuesday morning. We managed to get 6 suitcases, two carryon bags and a camera bag onto the moving walkway to the airport. Fortunately, it was right outside the door of the hotel. After we checked 5 of the bags and got through security, we got some breakfast. Our flight boarded and left right on time (maybe even 5 minutes early)!
After a short stop in Detroit to change planes, we arrived at Vancouver. We had to go through Canadian Customs then get our luggage. Since we were in Canada we had to get some Canadian money then get a taxi. The taxis were all compact cars and we had some doubts as to whether our luggage would all fit, but it did. Our taxi driver was very informative and told us a lot about Vancouver on the way to the hotel. It was a beautiful warm, sunny day – about 75˚. We arrived at the Pan Pacific and checked in. From our room we could see Mt. Baker in Washington State! We could also see one of the ports. The three of us walked around Vancouver. The Hotel was attached to a shopping complex/food court, so we ate some lunch. Stephen bought a new sports coat and then we went back to the hotel to rest.
We decided to eat dinner at a restaurant called The Steamworks Transcontinental. It is in the old train station in Vancouver. Right up the street from the Transcontinental is Roger's Chocolates – a great choice for dessert! When we got back to the hotel it was close to 8:00. We'd had a long day and were still on Pittsburgh time so we went to bed early.
