This is a LO I did where I wanted the focus to be the memories.
here is the journaling:

These pictures may not look like much to everyone....but to me they bring back so many fond memories of my childhood.
While on vacation in Kentucky this year ( April 2009) John and I went for a ride to take scenic pics. He loves to get pics of old barns
and all the things that make the country charming and beautiful. Well. as we were driving around....trying to get lost on purpose,
We drove by the sign that pointed to Bass Ridge. That is where my Mema and Papa lived when I was a little girl. So we took a drive down
that road and snapped some pics of My grandparents house, the cemetery that joined thier yard and that of Jone's Chapel church, the church and my Papa's old garage.
It looked like it had been covered by a sign before and the writing was faint...but I got excited when I saw my Papa's name still on that old garage.
Memories came flooding back as we stopped to take it all in....Here are a few things that...

I remember:
Going to the "country" to stay with my grandparents on the weekends
The apple tree in the yard
Papa's rule of not touching the walls
Papa not letting anyone sleep in..lol and him chasing Melissa with a fly swatter when she decided she would try.
ice tea
using the outhouse when the bathroom was full
trying on Mema's Avon samples of lipstick
getting dressed for church on Sunday morning and walking over to church
playing in the woods and getting lost all day it seemed
making mud pies
playing outside all day with my cousins
being the ONLY girl cousin
Mema putting my hair in rollers and one time them getting stuck..lol
My aunt Melissa making me laugh so hard once that I had ice tea coming out of my nose
playing in the cemetery
going over to the church to help clean
my cousins acting like they would push me in the huge hole they had to dig for the sewage
getting up before daylight and helping my Papa feed the calf
Having a cow named Brownie
watching Papa chase the chickens around to snap their necks for dinner
going out with my Papa to feed the pigs all the leftovers slop from our meals
being Papa's secretary at his garage
going shopping with my Mema
watching my Mema cook
Sunday school
going over to visit Blackie
digging the potatoes up in the garden with spoons
grabbing a warm tomato straight from the garden, washing it and eating it like an apple
us cousins sneaking the Flintstone's vitamins and eating them like candy
playing in the basement
