I handcut many of the flowers on this layout from pattern paper. Journaling hidden behind the picture reads: You are so lucky to have a grandmother like yours, almost as lucky as I am to have her as a mother. I am not sure if it is that I am older and able to see her as my friend instead of my enemy in order to appreciate the wonderful things she has done for me or if it is that I am now a mother myself and I can see her through a new light as your grandma. Growing up my family moved around and although I did not always acknowledge it at the time, my mother always did her best to make wherever we were feel like a home. No matter how much I complained and yelled, my mom never quit trying. I did not make it easy on her, often taking my frustrations out on her, but at the end of the day, I could always depend on my mom being there to pick up the pieces. I took me awhile to understand exactly how wonderful my mom was, but as I have matured and my teenage hormones have come and gone, I have come to see that my mom is one of the most loving, intelligent, patient, caring women around. Whether it is about laundry, cooking, sewing, raising kids, or just life in general, there are not many questions my mom can’t answer. No matter how ridiculous the drama in my life is, she is always there with an open mind and a listening ear to give advice. Now as a mother myself, I am more aware than ever before what my mom has done for me. Heck, carrying me in her tummy for nine months is a major sacrifice in and of itself! Kadence is only 3 and I sometimes already feel stressed and impatient with her mouthiness…how did my mother put up with my loud mouth all these years, especially as a teenager. I hope that I am able to learn from her example and be half the mommy to you that she was to me. I know one thing is for sure, after becoming your mommy, I understand more than ever before how much my mom loved me and I am sure that love is a big part of what makes a successful parent!
