This is sooooooooooooo cool! I did metal relief in art in school many years ago. Its a lot of work. How did you make the raised pattern? There are several ways to do that part. Are you going to make these and sell them? You should at least enter this into an art show.
Jaw dropping on the ground....please tell me you are submitting this to a craft magazine???? Patty - this is really beautiful and amazing craftmanship. TFS.
WHen I first logged onto your gallery and saw this, I was intrigued. I read the description, but did not grasp that you made this for me. (LOng day~ I'm tired!LOL)
I marvelled at the intricate work. I 'ooohed' and 'aaahhhed', and scoured the photo for all the lovely details. Then I went to the next image of the roof and spotted Jon's name!!!!!! I began to cry. And cry. Ryan looked up from her laptop, concerned, to ask what was wrong. I had to get a tissue, Patty. I am stunned this work of 'heart' is for me!!! Anyone who knows me, knows I deeply appreciate something personally crafted than anything that can be bought. I showed Jon and started to cry again. It is beautiful, but more than that, it represents time you took from your days to create. It took thought and care. And THAT is the MOST beautiful gift someone can give to me. I am touched by the sweetness you give unfailingly, the thougtfulness you demonstrate unconditionally. I am blessed to call you friend. OK...I better stop....I am teetering dangerously on becoming extremely sentimental as I am want to do. YOU ARE A GIFT to me, Texas Star. xxx
Oh wow - this is beautiful and I collect birdhouses!!! I have had metal for years and have never used them. Hum....will have to give it a try. I love the little squares and I noticed the bee and the tea! Perfect. I know Shawn will love this! Beautiful work! Love ya - Ginger
This is the project in metal relief that I've been working on this week. The base is an inexpensive wooden birdhouse from Michaels. First, I made a template of each of the four sides and the two sides of the roof. Then, I painted the parts of the wooden birdhouse where there would be no metal. Next, using tools and sheets of metal that I've had for a couple of years from Ten Second Studio, I created the designs on the sides and roof of the birdhouse. After all designs were completed, I used Making Memories black acrylic paint, then wiped most of the paint off to reveal the relief. On the back of each metal surface, I spread a light spackle and waited for it to dry (one hour). Last, I adhered each surface backside to sheets of adhesive, trimmed off excess adhesive and applied them to the wooden house. TFL
