This is my lo for the June 2009 Ugly Paper Challenge. Besides my 2 "ugly" pp's, I used a piece of black cs as the base and a piece of white paper for the title.

First, I took the swirly pp and cut out strips of it in the "flamey" design that it had. I was able to cut 3 strips of "flames". I traced the flames with a white pen, then layered the 3 strips of flames onto one side of the black cs.

I used a craft knife to cut around the the tiled design on the tiled pp (to be honest, I was intending to use the center portion and was trying to get a sheet of full tiles....but then I decided that I liked the scrap that was left as a border, instead of the good part. LOL ). I adhered the tiled border over the "flames". Then I used the white pen to trace around the border.

I used random blue mini brads to adhere to the points of each tile on the border. I chose the blues/greens to go with the pic. I added a blue ribbon over the "flames and used two of the mini brads to adhere it.

I used some punch-out alphas for the "swim" and I traced them with black pen, then used the white pen to dot around the edges. I adhered the "swim", tucking part of it under parts of the "flames". I used some shimmery white ink and a flat paint brush to soften the color of alphas, then I brushed some of the ink around the letters and above each of the flames.

I adhered the pic to the cs, the traced around it with a white pen and used the pen to add dots around the pic. I used a black photo pen to add the journaling to the pic and used the white pen to underline the journaling. I added bubble stickers at the ends of the journaling so that it looked like the bubbles were coming from dd in the pic. I added the large sticker to the bottom of the pic and traced the inside of the frame with the white pen and dotted around the otuside. I added the dolphin sticker to the frame.

For the title, I used 3 different fonts and black ink to stamp the words onto white paper, then mtted each word onto more of the same white paper. Then I used blue ink to ink the edges and adhered them to the ribbon. I used starfish stickers to highlight each word.

I embellished the rest of the flames and "swim" with more of the ocean life stickers. I, also, added white dots to the circles on the flame pp, so that the circles looked more like bubbles.

At the end, I used a small hole punch to punch holes every inch around the edge of the lo....about 1/4 inch in from the edge. Then I threaded a large-eye needle with some white yarn and stitched a border around the page.
