Since we placed my dad in a nursing home I have been very sentimental lately and have looked for old photos of him. I think it helps to see him so alive and the dad that was so active in our lives. Anyway, they bombed Pearl Harbor on his birthday at age 17. He left home and joined the navy. This is a picture of him and 3 of his buddies. I think this picture was taken in San Diego. He was on the USS Pinola and I finally found a photo of it.
Since my dad has dementia he forgets where he is and so forth. However, one evening a neighbor found him roaming the neighborhood looking for his sailor buddies. So, when I found this photo I knew I had to use it in a lo. I will be seeing my dad later this week and will give this to him. I have thought about putting together a small album of people and places that he enjoyed, in hopes this will help him remember. ?? Not sure it will but it might help me!
