Oh, I have this garlic...it came with the house I live in that we bought back in '78. It comes back every year, and mine spreads, although slowly. I used to save the little "hats" that come off the bloom for my children and tell them they were fairy hats...the weather here the last few years has been so weird that I haven't had any blooms...thus, no hats. It's possible, though, that I need to move some into fuller sun...the trees have grown up around them and that may be the problem, although the plant itself doesn't seem to mind. Oh yeah, great lo!
This is an elephant garlic bloom just in the process of opening. I planted this the first time in 03', that fall we ate a fine bit of garlic. Now it comes back every year, one stalk, one bulb. Very mysterious. And very good.
