Oh Betty this is awesome! I have just bought this range and its so pretty, and you have teamed the papers up with the most perfect photo of Sarah. What a lovely story too!
This is too tooooooooooo beautiful - all the extra effort was work the time!!!! A work of art for a beautiful young lady (btw way Mr Mitch wasn't the only one fooled by her real age - I teach ballet myself and she really does look young!
Georgous page, love the details and your hand made rose, and the stitched scallops are delightful. That's such a nice way for your daughter to end her Nutcracker career.
This is awesome.. I love how you stitched in the stems of the rose, now that is sewing talent! Love the stitching you did everywhere.. and the alittle embellish on the first letters B and F Wonderful job
And what a beautiful flower she made! Such a darling story and gorgeous page! These flowers certainly turned out beautifully. I love the look of the stickles. The border on the circle is such a beautiful detail, as is the title work!

Betty, this is simply breathtaking!!! Your details (and there are so many) are just remarkable and so lovely to look at. All your work here is unbelievable - I am in awe. Now that my mouth is closed, I will tell you that it is a truly resplendent layout!
This is a gorgeous work of art. I enjoyed reading each technique you did and then looking at it. Love the little stitched flowers. You put a lot of work into it and it paid off.
My DD, Sarah, at sixteen years old in her last performance of Nutcracker. PPS are Flouriste by Cosmo Cricket. I made the two smaller roses from the pp, cutting the spirals with deckle scissors, then inked and stickled them. The larger rose is made from stacked hearts (cut on the Cricut), then inked, scrunched and stickled. The instructions for making these are on Miss Sweden's blog. I drew the pattern for the swirls using my Bo Bunny chunky acrylic swirls, then stitched them and the scallops with green DMC. I also stitched some little flowers at the peaks of the scallops with DMC. I used silk ribbon to stitch around the circle and for the flowers on the swirls. Last I stitched a few beads to the swirls and the circle. The butterfly is a MS stamp, stamped in brown, then cut out and stickled with bling for the body. I hand lettered the title and doodled a butterfly's trail and then added stickles to both of them. Then I doodled a few white dots in the scallops. The edges of the photo are distressed using sandpaper and a small border added to one side - EK Success border punch. The layout is based on a sketch by Brosid.
Journaling is on a tag tucked behind the photo and reads: "After having performed in the Nutcracker the year before as a mouse and a candy cane, Sarah was hoping for a different part this year - one with a prettier costume, maybe a flower or a snowflake. When Mr. Mitch started assigning parts, she was once again cast as a mouse and a candy cane, parts usually reserved for younger dancers. Someone spoke up though, and told him that she was sixteen not twelve. (Mr. Mitch always thought Sarah was years younger than she actually was.) She still had to play the mouse, but she was taken off the candy cane list and was assigned to be an Arabian and a Chinese. These costumes were prettier, but still not the prettiest, no tutus. As the rehearsals progressed, Mr. Mitch realized that he needed a few extra “flowers” for the finale, since most of his flowers would be dressed as snowflakes at that point. Imagine Sarah’s delight when she was chosen to be one of those flowers in the finale. This was the last year that she performed in the Nutcracker, but she finally got to wear one of the prettiest costumes – a beautiful rose and green flower. And, she looked absolutely gorgeous in it!
