Me again!! I just looked up Alligator snapping turtle, 100-140 days for the eggs to hatch, usually in early fall. I marked my calendar with a sticky note [Kate's turtle hatchlings] for 30th Sept. :)
Awesome shot!! TFS!! I don't know what kind it is but sure hope you are able to get a shot of the babies!! ~~~ :( How are we going to survive a MONTH without you??????
Wow! Amazing to be in on this! You have a truly special talent for finding these events that you don't get to see on a regular basis!! Great shot! I wanna see the babies!
oooh she's BUSY and you're aking photos LOL. What a fabulous catch! I believe she is a tortise, perhaps a russian, but not sure. Unfortunately - there is astrong possibility that her blue shell is actually painted on. Many pet stores do things like that to them as babies to make them more attractive as pets to children -then they grow and get too big and get turned out in the wild. Hopefully if you see her again she will be cleaner and easier to identify LOL
I found this big turtle laying eggs up by the cabin. She is about 18 inches across the shell which seems to be blue. she is a snapping turtle and you can't really see her face as she used all four legs and her nose to dig. I hope I am there when the babies come out.
