LOVE this Jill!!! I have been thinking of getting this frame in the black and in the white. I can see using the white one to create a beautiful baby themed decor item. I can also see using these for holiday decor items...hmmm Halloween & Christmas are right around the corner...better get busy. :-) Thanks for the inspiration!!
I have an alcove in my kitchen that had become "home base" for our family messages, purses, store returns AND clutter. One of my resolutions for this year was to find a solution for the clutter in this area of our life. I approached the problem by deciding what were the most effective uses of the space. Here's what we concluded we needed:
Magnet board(s) and magnets for phone and other messages Memo paper and pencils Calendar Quotes and reminders of how we want to live Key holders Photo(s) that say "real people live here"
The Fancy Pants large “Embellish Me” frame was the EXACT size to fit in the alcove with room for the telephone, pencil/paper box, baby monitor, current papers and mail. I purchased one and got to work creating places within the frames that worked with our needs. Incidentally, the frame can be painted, stamped, distressed, etc. Here's what I put in each section:
Top row from left to right: Magnet board and magnets for my messages Calendar (I've used Linnea Designs calendars for years – this one was mounted on a piece of cardstock so it fits perfectly. The other calendar pieces are stored behind the piece you see.) Magnet board and magnets for DH
Bottom row from left to right: Photo section (with label holder whose word can change with photos--I added a clear word sticker which worked with our photo) Motivational Word Spinner (the background text behind the photo can be added with computer fonts or stamps) Quote section
I found some light-weight sheet metal boards with magnets (for student lockers) at the dollar store and cut them to fit in the magnet sections of the frame. A piece of flashing or light weight sheet metal could be used too. Decorative paper is placed over both sheets (without adhesive) so I can change the papers for holidays and seasons. The magnets have American Craft felt flowers attached so they're durable and fun to look at.
I particularly like the quote spinner because each time I spin it and think, “Add some ______(insert word from spinner here) to LIFE today” I always smile and really do think about having a different focus to a part of my day.
The hooks on both sides of the frame are for keys. Speaking of hooks, if I had small kids at home I'd use this frame for our chore chart. I'd take pictures of jobs (with people doing them) and place in each a section with a label holder (attached to the clear acrylic cover piece on the outside, not the backing paper). Family names could easily be moved from section to section and photos updated as needed.
