I can't understand why you hesitated to post your "modest" lei! This is fantastic and super thoughtful through and through, from the quotes to reusing the keychains and utilizing his fave color! The mini license plates are so boss! Yippee, I'm so happy you shared!
So my sister-in-law asked my family (kind of last minute) to make leis for my nephew's high school graduation... I can't believe my once-baby nephew's already so grown up! Anyway, their family made pretty elaborate ones (my brother's Hawaiian themed money origami one is already in my gallery) so I was nervous we wouldn't be able to make something nice. But in the end, I'm pretty pleased about our humble NYC themed one. Orange is his favorite color. I got tiny NYC license plate keychains (that he can actually re-use as keychains) that have NYC sayings but also stuff like "Superstar" & "The Boss". I used punched cards w/ NYC landmarks on em. I also added graduate/congratulatory stuff & single strand tinsel. Voila.
We also had to complete a questionnaire supplying advice & quotes. This is what we said:
Advice for College: Shoot for the stars but remember to savor your present circumstances too. You’ll only get more responsibilities once you leave college so don’t forget to HAVE FUN! You are more than what you do - life comes w/ both achievements & setbacks; the most effective & happy people know that everyday they always have the power to choose how they feel & whether or not they inhabit a life of scarcity or wealth.
Scripture from the bible/ famous quote (must have the source): “In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.” Abe Lincoln “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” Dr. Seuss
