DH was only supposed to paint safety markings on this aircraft so it could fly back to its' home base. He decided to leave his mark on it. Look close at the bottom right pic, he changed the tail from MF to ME - DH's group. The pilot didn't check his aircraft before take off. When he landed, his ground crew did not bring him in because the tail marking did not belong to them. The pilots' colonel also noticed the change, and chewed out the pilot in front of the whole ground crew!
In 2003, (21 years later) DH was telling his current crew this story. One of his pilots overheard and started laughing. Turns out, this pilot had followed the other pilot in 1982 and saw the whole thing!
