I love how this page turned out. This photo was taken at Nobel Square in Cape Town - I love the fact that the SA flag is in the photo and the mountain is in the background. I tried to use all the colours in the South African flag in this page - black, white, red, yellow, blue and green - for our 'Rainbow Nation'.

My journalling is on a tag under the photo:

'Even though I grew up in the 1970s and 80s in a South Africa divided by Apartheid, my Mom continually reminded my sister and I that we saw and were taught in school was wrong. She taught us that not matter what a person's skin colour, everyone was entitled to be treated the same.

I have passed this lesson on to my children even though they have been lucky enough to grow up in a multi-cultural society which encourages tolerance and understanding.

The one monument I really wanted to visit with my children while we were in Cape Town was Nobel Square - a monument to South Africa's four Nobel Peace Prize winners.

Christopher, Jemma and Michael loved reading the plaques and posing alongside Chief Albert Luthuli, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, FW de Klerk and Nelson Mandela'

I used a quite by Nelson Mandela which reads 'I dream of an Africa which is in peace with itself.'

I loved doing this page - thanks for looking!
