Love the art work and colors! I had heard about the "broken cross" symbolism, which is why I don't "do peace symbols" anymore (I sure did in the 1970s, though!) - but I do not find this offensive at all. I don't interpret the painting as meaning anything specific about Jesus or the Cross - to me, it's meaning has more to do making this a peaceful world for our children...look at the sad and forlorn expression on the child's face...
This did not offend me in the least, it was an interesting piece of trivia and the mural is still neat looking. I had never heard that about the peace sign being a broken cross. To me it is a peace sign a symbol which doesn't always bring peace with it, ie-war protesters, etc. There is never any doubt about the cross and it's symbolism!
LOL....I hope you ordered something while you were there, it might be considered rude to just go take pics, you know. LOL This is really interesting..so glad you shared!
about every 15 years or so the meaning of this so called "sign" changed
with the up coming of different generations from before the so called
"flower child" chapter of our history till now. I find it interesting how
each additional generation finds a new or different meaning. Or
perhaps each "meaning" is found to suit each generations own needs.?
Fascinating picture.
I'm not offended. Interesting, I didn't know the peace sign was thought of as a broken cross. Yes, there seems to be no limit to the horrible torture we will put ourselves thru for a photo!!! LOL!! Neat take!! TFS!!
A lot of people interpret the peace sign as a broken cross. If you look up on you will see it stood for nuclear disarmament. It was drawn up in 1958. Then it became known as what we know as the peace sign. Yes, I had to go back to my fav deli to get this mini done. Oh what we do for pictures. :-)
