The Casino on Catalina Island was built in 1929 by William Wrigley Jr. It isn't and has never been a casino. The word "Casino" is a latin word meaning a "social gathering place". The top floor is a 18,000 sq ft ballroom. Downstairs is a luxurious theatre along with a museum and gift shop.
