What a wonderful memory to record. My Dad use to take my brothers and me along the RR track to look for asparagus or mushrooms. I was always afraid of snakes.Love your choice of papers.

The stitching & distressing & the flowers look just incredible on this page...and I'm not a big flower person, lol! LUV it!

Ooo, you're good at antiquing paper! What an abundance of good ideas, must go into my "Inspired me" library. Love the lace edge, gotta try it! Also really fond of long journalling for LOs, telling the story of the photo!
What a wonderful photo!!! ....don't those papers work beautifully with vintage photo's!! This has to be one of my all time faves of yours!!! Wonderful colours and the design rocks!!
Oh Susan, this is so gorgeous, I haven't been into sb.com much lately as I've been too busy for scrapping (buying, selling, building homes etc) but this stood out so much, I just love it all, definitely keeping it for inspiration when I get my scrapping out of boxes again.
this is beautiful...I have been looking so hard for that peice of pink paisley paper with the flowers on it....NO where here has it ANYWHERE...lol love this l/o, just as I love all your layouts.....
Fantastic layout - love how you tore the paper and the embellies that you used! One place that we lived in Florida we had our own grapefruit, orange and tangerine trees and could just go out and pick your fresh fruit to eat!!!! My parents would give lots of the fruit away to friends who were so happy to have fresh fruit. Those were the days!!!!! :>D
This is just beautiful!! You picked the perfect pp's for that photo!! And those little tags- soo cute- love 'em! The distressing and "stitching" looks fab! Love those flowers and the title lettering! And your journaling is wonderful, as always!
Hi there! Gorgeous LO! The embellishments are great for this page! I need to check out your other new layouts, too! We were on vacation plus I did a lot of sewing and other crafty stuff lately, some minibooks etc.
Absolutely gorgeous. What wonderful memories. You always give all the details of the products you have used which is really great for me as I am only just starting. I just love your layouts
Susan! This is awesome! Definitely one of my faves of yours. All the way down to the use of the blue gingham ribbon... very country jam. Fabulous in every way. Fave!
Okay. Now THIS one is my absolute favorite. I cannot get enough of looking at it, and I love every single little detail. In Texas, we picked dew berries. Several times each spring I got to miss a morning of school to go berry picking with my daddy. My grandmother made a mean dew berry cobbler! Great memories! Thanks for the beautiful layout to remind me of those wonderful times!
I love the story, thanks for sharing and I love to be reminded of how safe the world use to be *sigh* The page couldn't be more perfect..your an amazing talent my friend!!!!
Boy does this bring back memories. I can't tell you how many times I went blackberry picking with my mom. You are so blessed to have this picture to pass on. Beautiful page, I love it!
This is a photo of my mother sometime during the 50s - out picking blackberries. I used G45 papers, layered to large mats, distressing the top mat by cutting the edges and inking heavily. I did a little faux stitching around the edges of the large red mat. The oval tags are images that I cut from a piece of Webster's paper and are backed with black cardstock. They are adhered with pop dots. I used the apron punch for two of the edges on the border strip, and a Martha Stewart lacy edge punch for the bottom edge of the border strip. The flowers were cut from some Pink Paislee paper and raised with pop dots. I added some black Prima bling under the ribbon. I used a Making Memories rubon photo corner. I crinkled the corners of the top mat and added a bronze brad. I also inked the edges of the background cardstock. Journaling is tucked behind the photo and reads:
This is your Grandma Perdue picking blackberries one summer in the 1950s. Picking berries was something we did every summer. Daddy worked for Eastern Air Lines and the roads around the airport were filled with blackberry vines. Sometimes on Saturdays, Daddy would take me and my two brothers and drop us off in the berry patch while he went to work for a while. Back then, there definitely wasn't as much meanness in the world as there is today, and we always felt safe. Of course, we always took our dog, Jitterbug, with us for protection. There were often snakes in the berry patch, and Jitterbug always knew if there were snakes and would get between us and the snake to protect us. We'd pick berries for several hours and sometimes, I think we ate more than we picked! I can remember many a tummy ache after eating too many berries. We'd take our buckets of berries home to Mama, and she would make some of the most delicious blackberry jam and jelly that you've ever tasted. It was a lot of work, but it was so good! Good memories!
