Last year I made a raspberry birthday cake for my little brother's birthday.
I put fresh raspberries from my backyard on top of it and covered them with jelly - it made some lovely sparkling-diamond-looking effect on the fruit (accidentally) and guests were in awe about the cake- this is a LO telling the story.
