SHCG: So many great goings on here--discovering that you have enough of one color in your stash, pairing pps from different stacks, finishing another clean multipic lo, documenting yet another fun filled event. You two look great with the kiddos, btw! ;) My only wish is that you used wider letters in your title blocks. Great response to the challenge.
shcg: I have to echo Janet on the clean lines. Love them. I like how you balanced the title on either side of the middle picture. Great colors. Love the use of ribbon and the minimal embellishment. It all creates a wonderful layout combined with your awesome journaling skills.
Please pardon the blurring here – I usually blur non-family members' kids & last names if I haven't discussed posting with them first, & this LO has both others' kids AND their last name. But I think you can get the basic gist of this LO without seeing those (though I wish I could share how CUTE all these kids are!). And as usual, my scan crops off the edges; there's more side margin IRL.
This is from when our friends & their kids visited us in New York City from upstate New York; they met DH at our apartment then once I got home from work we all went to their relative's birthday party in our area. The actual title is “____ (friends' last name) in Washy” (that's what DH & I call our neighborhood of Washington Heights); the friends' last name appears vertically on the left side but it's blurred out here.
This is my response to twinstars/Jen's Rotated Monochromatic Scraplift Challenge for Scrap Happenzz Critique Group. We had to rotate an existing LO 90 degrees then scraplift it using a monochromatic color scheme. I turned Makkrb's fantastic “Tokyo” LO http://www.scrapbook.com/myplace/index.php?mod=galleries&u=41507&m=view&id=2280655&page=1&f=1 counter-clockwise then lifted it. I was gonna borrow Brenda's choice to go monotone for this challenge & use blacks & whatnot, as she did in her way cool “Black Chrome” response, but to my pleasant surprise I found enough pleasing blues in my stash to keep this monochromatic. I DID use black ink though.
Journaling: “Aug 25, 2006 – The __[friends' last name]___ (Rob, Julie, Luc & Belle) visited from Westchester! They chilled w/ Greg at #25 then I met them all at Ft. Tryon Park for Yared's 1st birthday party [I think Mahlet's (Yared's Mom) sister is married to Rob's brother in Switzerland; Zig is Yared's Dad]. An excellent time! A clarinetist & guitarist played Woody Allen movie-esque music. Read ‘That's Not My Dragon' w/ Luc. Belle & Luc ran around all over the place, w/ Rob & Julie chasing (lil Belle knocked over a whole bunch of watermelon slices!). I practiced carrying a stroller down stair steps. Delicious fruit shortcake from Veniero's. It was a bit chilly but a really nice party!”
The K&Co/Amy Butler pp was a gifty from Brenda – thanks Babe! And thanks to Jen for an awesome challenge, I had a blast doing this!
