This lo is typical of how my creative process works. First I loved the rose patterned and polka dot pps together so I taped them down. I had a crocheted doily from Ms I'd been wanting to use and plopped that on top and chalked it a bit....then it all sat around a few days..then I began a photo search..found this one of me as a toddler with my mom in the back yard of our old house...and a layout was born. I made the fences out of chipboard and crackle paint...drew and cut out the grass and the little sign. I've loved all the layouts I've seen with fences and we actually did have a white fence in this yard. The shape of the frame of the cane chair I'm sitting in suggested a heart so out came the scissors. The photos are developed from really old (60 years!!) color slides and they are a bit blurry.
Journaling is on the back and talks about our huge old backyard. Dad raced homing pigeons so we had a big old pigeon loft. There were always kids playing and little vinyl swimming pools and swingsets and there was always a dog and sometimes a chicken or a duck. Our banty hen, Matilda, who came to us as an egg from the county fair and was hatched under a light bulb, laid eggs in everyone's yard but ours..people were always bringing us her eggs. Matilda liked to sit on the dog. Ace, the German Shepherd, who once bit the mailman's pants and so was sentenced to the back yard, would just lay in the shade with this little hen perched on his back. All these years later, whenever I drive by that house I get a nice warm fuzzy and still think of it as home.
