I'm tearing up from this LO. I have thousands of letters and photos of Iraq from my husband that I haven't quite decided to do with yet. This is very inspiring.
What a breathtaking LO!! The picture is incredible, the quote says it all. BTW,one of my Army sons was wounded that very day, Dec 13, 04 in Mosul, Iraq when a suicide bomber tried to enter his convoy. He was driving a Stryker. God bless our military and the sacrifices they make!
Thanks to Peace for sending me here to see your LO!!!
This is one of my favorite quotes "Sometimes it's not about the Destination, but the Journey itself". You and your husband share such a special bond, and it shows in all of your scrapbook layouts. This is a wonderful layout.
Alycia - when I looked at your gallery (which is a work of art!), I realized that I know you!!! I'm Tami D who comes into the store! I never knew what beautiful layouts and work you do! I'm rooting for you to win the contest!!!! This is one of the best I've seen!
This turned out beautiful! My hubby will be serving in Afghanistan next week so, I am always looking for new ways to scrap his military photos, thanks for the wonderful idea.
Awesome LO! My heart swells with pride for you and your husband as I too know how it feels since I have a son who was in Iraq from March of 2004 to March of 2005 when he returned home. I have a few pictures of my son like this and you have truly inspired me to get busy scrappin 'em! Thanks and God bless!

This layout is amazing. You know the saying "a picture says a thousand words"? Well, I can't stop looking at it, because it really speaks volumes. Love it.
Wow - this is so wonderful! Great photos, love all the elements you used, from the distressing to the metal pieces. So great. Awesome tribute to your husband and his time serving our country. Love how you used his own words for the title.
WOW! What a moving photo! I love both sides of thie layout - You did a fabulous job distressing the entire thing!!! Great, great job! I pray that he is now home safe with you and your family!
Love this! The rough texture at the bottom and the metal buttons and BG paper are absolutely perfect! The symbolism works extrememly well and pulls the entire LO together! Absolutely amazing work!!!!!
This LO is amazing. What a wonderful tribute not only to your husband, but to all of our armed forces. I love the colors you chose, and the title is stunning. Creating a title from your husband's words was a fabulous idea.
This layout is for my husbands military album. The first page of this layout scanned really well where as the second page I wasn't able to get a descent scan at all so I had to take a digi picture of it. On the second page of the layout the picture folds out to reveal several other photos that my husband captured while traveling through Iraq. And the tabs pull out to reveal journaling cards.
Thanks so much for taking a look!!
The quote says, "...keep loving me the way that you do and wish me luck because tonight we go through Baghdad." This came from a letter that my husband wrote to me on December 13th, 2004 as they were convoying from Kuwait into Iraq.
