I seriously LOVE shoes! I won't tell you how many pair I own but when we were in Florence, I couldn't wait to visit the Salvatore Ferragmo Museum. The museum is under the store, right down the street from our hotel, a stone's throw from the Ponte Vecchio.
One afternoon, I took a walk to go see the place, my mother came along mostly because she felt bad that nobody else would go with me but in the end she actually found it interesting. We saw all kinds of shoes, foot forms and receipts from stars like Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren and Drew Barrymore. They also show a movie about Ferragamo's life that tells the story of how he started in the business and explains he took measurements and made molds to custom fit to the buyer's feet. The movie was quite interesting but it's in Italian so if you don't understand the language, you'll be at a bit of a disadvantage but can follow along by just watching the picture on the screen.
Anyway, it didn't take long to see the museum and it was a fun little side outing for me and Mom to enjoy together. I took pics of some of the wierdest shows and my favs (the red, rhinestone ones that Marilyn Monroe wore in the movie Let's Make Love). If you like shoes or the "How It's Made" shows on TV, it would be an inexpensive (5 Euro), quick (about an hour) little side trip.

On a side note, my two favorite Jolee's stickers of all time are in this book....one is used in this layout, the 2 high heeled mules with the purple fur are Jolee's By You 'Party Shoes'. My other fav is Jolee's By You 'Carry On' that I used on another page posted in My Gallery, "Italian Train Travel".
