WOW...It is wonderful to find somebody else who feels about CSLewis & his Narnia the way I do. I did not know about the books as a child. After I became a parent, a friend introduced me to The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe....at 30+ yrs of age! I read them to my daughter and my heart was smote with affection for the series, the characters, the message. I felt like Lucy when she thinks she sees the great Lion, and nobody believes her. When Aslan gently chided her for her doubt and fear to follow Him without the approval of the others, it touched me inside. I cannot read the section about the Witch and the Stone Table without crying. Certain quotes actually have the same effect!! The one on the LO is one of my favs! I bought the lamp collection of stamps by Inkadinkadoo because it has a pretty lampost stamp. I think I may have to make my own Narnia LO....thanks for sharing this~
I love the LO and even more what it represents to you! I first read the C.S. Lewis books when I was 9. Didn't understand the symbolism behind them at the time but it all jumped out at me when I re-read them as an adult! I think it is fantastic that you are chronicling your experience in your own way!
I read the Chronicles of Narnia when I was 18 years old, and it completely changed me into the person I am today. The stories, which parallel the Bible, completely captivated me and helped me to understand the Bible in a non-threatening or overwhelming way. I was so deeply touched by the books that I cried and cried for two weeks straight after I read them, trying to absorb them from their beautiful beginning to their incredible ending.
This layout is a sort of tribute to the beloved series. The lamp post is a symbol which is present in all the Narnia books, and it is such a deep and meaningful symbol to me--meaningful enough to have it tattooed on my back. :) This partcular lamp post was actually photographed in a city called Covington, which is nearby where I live. I was driving to Wal Mart the other day and thought that the posts were so beautiful against the clouds that I had to photograph them.
The quote at the bottom is from, I think, The Silver Chair. It is one of my favorite Narnia-isms, and I think sums up pretty well how the books made me feel when I was finished--that I spent my life yearning for and calling out to God, but all the time He was calling to me, waiting until I heard His voice through CS Lewis to claim me as His.
