Sentimental Journey

I took a much needed break form all the vintage photos on Sunday afternoon, and scrapped these pics taken on July 1 of this year. Journaling:

"Local musician, Jim Aikin, wanted to meet mother because she played with a dance band in the 1940s. On July 1st I took her to Down The Block Cafe to celebrate her 82nd birthday. She and Jim talked and sang together for an hour. It was so much fun to observe! Mother said, "This was the best birthday ever!" The highlight of the "jam session" was when they harmonized on Sentimental Journey.

Jim plays the piano at a local eatery, and he gave her the most amazing gift!! I had not heard her sing those old balads and blues numbers since I was a child....and just singing them seemed to take about 10 years off of her age! What a joy it was to watch!
