This LO is for the Sketch Challenge and Tammy's Travel Challenge - Something you never thought you would do on a vacation. I never thought I would break my toe in a speedboat accident. Journalling reads:
Day 3 of our 5 day stay. Before participating in any water sports, they made us sign a waiver to say that we did so at our own risk and would not sue the resort in the event of being injured. Yeah right! That’s legal….not!! When we rode our bikes down to the boat they told us to take our shoes off to wade out to the boat. I was happy to leave mine on but they said everyone took them off and showed us where to leave them. We had a ball on the speedboat tour of the island with the driver bouncing the boat over the waves and making the ride as bumpy and ‘fun’ as possible.

Just seconds before returning to the starting point, the driver made one last bounce over a huge wave. My seat flew forward which sent me flying head first into Pete and Kimberley, winding up in a pile on the floor of the boat at their feet. We were all laughing hysterically, till they helped me back up onto the loose seat and I felt a searing pain up my foot and leg. When I looked down my left pinky toe was standing out at right angles to my foot. After confirming that it indeed was probably broken, the island nurse arranged for a boat and staff member to escort me back to the mainland to see a doctor, and have xrays. I tried to convince Pete to go back to our cabin for the camera to take pics of them wheeling me onto the boat, but he wouldn’t do it. He wasn’t leaving me. Sweet, but I wish I had the pics for this LO. Word spread around the island of what happened to me and when I returned, the staff spoiled me rotten everywhere we went. It rained the next couple of days so it didn’t really spoil our holiday that much and was certainly something to talk about afterwards. I was off work for 6 weeks unable to wear shoes. I convinced the resort that they were indeed negligent with regard to the loose seat and the fact that if I had not been encouraged to remove my shoes my feet would have been protected when I was thrown. They paid my 6 weeks lost salary and all my medical bills even though I had signed the waiver.
Wasn’t that nice of them??? LOL!!!
