A look back at some of the trends from when I was in Junior High during the early/mid 90s.
Journaling Says: As I grew up my fashion style changed a bit. During Junior High I was allowed to pick out my own school clothes, which was really fun. I could finally participate in some of the fashion trends, but there were several that I most definitely didn‘t participate in. I didn’t wear flannel or wear ripped jeans. I didn’t wear skin tight bodysuits. I never wore short skirts with thigh highs like in “Clueless.” I do remember wearing vests during the early part of the 1990’s. My mom even made me several. I remember them being very popular at craft shows. I also can recall wearing colored denim jeans. I had several colors - purple, teal, red, though my favorite pair was a pair of white jeans. I was so scared to wear them, always afraid that I would spill something on them. I also did participate in hippies craze and had a purple silk peasant blouse with the ruffled collar that I absolutely loved. I remember in 8th grade it seemed that every girl had at least one peasant blouse. I also loved polos and sweaters. I also remember wearing ribbed shirts with a denim long sleeve shirt over it. I also loved long flowing floral skirts. I was really into chunky heeled platform shoes. I had tons of shoes. During this time I also began to grow my hair out. For most of my life I had short hair, but I had decided I wanted to grow it out and I found I really liked the longer hair.
