I am uploading this to share with a friend on here bc she just did a similar layout featuring her grandmother's hands...and I think it is amazing how beautiful hands can be!
This LO was done last year and it has by far become my all time favorite...not bc of the work I did, or the supplies or used or even the pictures....but simply bc I think it captures for me the very reason WHY I scrapbook!
(story behind the LO)
We actually stumbled across this small community church having a fall festival and decided to stop...the kids rode hay rides, played games and we all had so much fun listening to music and eating lots of great treats! One of the 'stations' was your standard face painting table...and I thought it was quite charming that the lady had taken the time to dress up as a clown! But truth be known...she was a bit scary looking and my son was unsure he wanted to go over to her! He observed her from a distance and once sure that she was doing a good job on other kids he agreed to go over to her. I tried to take some pictures to scrapbook but no matter what angle I stood at, she still appeared like a "grumpy old clown." (I mean this very literally...and I really was trying!) Then as she painted...which was a VERY slow process to begin with, she tapped into his little world and she kicked into 'grandma' mood...had him talking and so relaxed he didn't want to get up when he was done! I was so intrigued observing them...she was sooooo old looking and he was just my little baby...and the contrast was such a beautiful thing!!! She has such a delicate way about her...frail almost. Her hands were quite drawn and scrawny...while my son's were so plump and of course with the requisite dirt under the nails....still ....in a single moment I was able to capture what I was feeling....a magical moment. Profound....and although I journaled on the page...the image is still my favorite part....but alas...I did still include a couple small images of my son with the grumpy ol' clown and their beautiful hands!
